Staff Report MONTGOMERY – Sen. Quinton Ross, D-Montgomery, announced today he plans to seek re-election to the Alabama State Senate. Ross currently represents District 26 in Montgomery, a position he has held since 2002. Most recently, after a nationwide search, Ross was selected as a finalist for the Presidency of Alabama State University. “I'm thankful to have been nominated for the position of president of ASU and to have been selected one of the top-three finalists for the position. I thank God for the opportunity and give Him all the glory. I have been blessed with great support from my family, my friends and my constituents. I look forward to serving my district with the same commitment and enthusiasm that I have since 2002,” Ross said. Ross, Director of the Adult Education Division at H. Councill Trenholm State Technical College, said he would continue to fight for education issues. “As a lifelong educator, I believe we must adequately fund education in order to give our kids the opportunities they need to succeed,” Ross said “A strong education system is necessary for a strong economy, and I will continue to fight for education, economic development, and health care for my district among other issues in the Legislature.” Ross, 45, received a B.S. Degree in Political Science, an M.A. Degree in Education and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership, Policy and Law all from Alabama State University.
