Governor requests FEMA funding for storm-impacted counties
The request seeks aid for local governments, nonprofits and households as damage assessments continued across 23 Alabama counties.

Governor Kay Ivey on Friday requested a federal major disaster declaration for certain Alabama counties affected by Hurricane Isaias.
The request seeks help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cover eligible hurricane-related costs for governments and certain nonprofit organizations. It also seeks individual assistance, which, if approved, could provide support to households affected by the hurricane.
The request currently includes Baldwin, Barbour, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Dallas, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Lowndes, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Pike, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox counties.
Damage assessments are ongoing, and officials may add other counties to the request.
“Assessments indicated this hurricane certainly caused significant damage across communities in parts of Alabama. We saw individual homes and public infrastructure impacted. Having support from FEMA is critical to states like Alabama, and I am hopeful this request will be fulfilled so we can get Alabamians quickly back on their feet,” Ivey said.
