Governor Kay Ivey will deliver opening remarks at the Alabama Academy of Honor induction ceremony today.

The state of Alabama created the academy “to bestow honor and recognition upon living Alabamians for their outstanding accomplishments and service.” Throughout its history, the academy has elected more than 260 members from a wide variety of backgrounds and areas of achievement, recognizing their outstanding service to the state and nation. The governor is a member of the academy.

This year’s inductees are former Congressman Robert “Bud” Cramer Jr.; retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Edward F. Crowell; Warren B. Lightfoot, a retired courtroom lawyer, sculptor and lecturer; business leader and corporate executive Harris V. Morrissette; and John M. Turner Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Regions Financial Corp.

The program is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CDT. Jo Bonner will deliver the keynote address.
